Top Comics for March 03 2010

This is a top three list of Comics I'm most interested to read the day before they come out. They aren't reviews just comics that seem the most appealing to buy.

In The Third Place : Amazing Spider-man #623 - The reason Amazing is on the list this week is because lately the writing and the drawing has been top notch. It is a comic that anyone can pick up and enjoy. You really don't have to know what happened last week to enjoy it. It reminds me of the old style of comic writing where each week loosely is involved with each other. 623 involves Spidey going against the Vulture but also his alter ego Peter Parker. Peter has to decide what's more important Spider-Man or his photography career.

Runner-up - X-Men Hope #1 - With Marvel's latest X-men push it seems like X-men will finally get their well deserved stop in the lime light. X-Men Hope #1 tells the tale of Hope Summers and Cable. Hope might be the only chance that humanity has in the future world. The part that interests me is the fact that it is hope summers which means they might be toying with bringing back Jean. I think this would be great for X-men and it also gives the chance to see another side of the Phoenix Arc.Duane Swierczynski and Steve Dillon are the creators of the new series. Steve Dillion has always been a favorite artist of mine ever since his work in Wolverine Origins. I've never been one for the futuristic side of X-men (mainly cable) but this story seems like it could affect the whole X-men universe past, present, and future.

Top Comic to buy for March 03, 2010 - Invincible Iron Man #24 - Stark : Disassembled comes to a conclusion. This arc has been nothing but gold. The writing always drags me in and the art work wins me over and over again every issue. If you are not reading this series I would begin reading it with the beginning of the Stark : Disassembled arc. The series has been showing tony stark's fall from being leader of almost everyone during Civil War and his breakdown afterwards. What could be better than seeing Tony loose his mind and try to collect the pieces with the help from his friends. This series is a must read and I recommend you going out and buying it tomorrow just like I'm going to!

I just wanted to say I'm not bashing any other comic book publisher by just doing Marvel this week. It just how I felt the top three went. DC really didn't have anything too amazing coming out this week. I will check out the new mini series involving Batman, Doc Savage, and The spirit. I just wanted to point that out because trust me if there was a blackest night related comic coming out this week it probably would have been on this list.

Preview of Avengers Prime: Siege Aftermath #1

The original core of the Avengers have been through a whole hell of a lot in the past few years. The initial seperation was caused by Civil War which pitted best friends against each other as bitter enemies. After the Dark reign of Norman Osbourne boiled over with the Siege of Asgard these core members of the Avengers will join forces once again. Though they are allies again it isn't a easy path to trusting each other fully again. Avengers Prime will deal with the issues that Steve Rogers, Thor, and Iron man all had with each other. It was also show just how they are going to get past the past. Avengers Prime: Siege Aftermath will be a five issue bi-weekly release starting in June written by Brian Bendis and drawn by Alan Davis.

Blackest Night 08 Cover revealed

The last issue of the huge DC event is coming closer and closer. With the edition of it being the final issue it will also have an additional 10 pages for no extra charge. Blackest Night 8 comes out in March and I can't wait to see what or who the White Lantern will be my guess it'll be someone different then in Blackest Night 07.

Francis Manapul's Flash

Francis Manapul is known for his work in Action comics and with the restart of Flash he looks to be putting his best work forward. He will be working on the Flash for the first year of the project. Francis Manapul's artwork brings a classic feel but newer design to well known villians and Heroes from Central city.

Read First Wave #01 with Jim Lee and Geoff Johns!

As a way to push interest with the new Brian Azzarello and Rags Morales comic. Jim lee and Geoff Johns will be reading the issue on twitter. First Wave is a noir style team up of Doc Savage, The Spirit, and The Batman. The reading begins at 3pm Wednesday which gives plenty of time to run out and get your copy of First Wave.

First look at Siege: Fallen

Marvel released another teaser shot involving Siege. The picture involves very well known hands grabbing a man/ or very manly women who appears to be dying or passed out. Siege shows the downfall of Norman Osbourne but I also see this as the downfall of Sentry. He has just become to crazy. I can't see him being involved with the next guy in charge of everything (Steve Rogers?). Whatever the case may be it looks like somebody won't make it out of Siege. Siege: Fallen comes out in April.

Incarnate creator Nick Simmons reacts to plagiarism claims

Allegations of plagiarism sprang up after people noticed panels in Incarnate that seem very similar to Bleach panels. The artists left a formal statement on a popular website.

“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium. I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other Manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”

What I think is the most interesting part of all this is why of all manga would he copy Bleach. I know there are fans of the manga but the story is just non existent. I've read through many manga and I couldn't bring myself to get to the half way point of Bleach. This really isn't something new to the comic world or manga world though. One example was a panel to panel example of Dragon Ball and Narauto. I was suprised at first that Radical ( the publisher of the comic) suspended the printing until further review but the more I think about it. It was a good decision to listen to the fans and show they don't allow this amateurish behavior in their comics.Take a look at one of the panel comparison I think you'll see what everyone is talking about.
